Taken By The Hand

With support from The Mayor of London’s Stronger Community Fund with Groundwork, Creative Dance London (CDL) can announce a new series of online dance workshops, starting Thursday 3rd November, for people over 60, free of charge. These expressive dance classes are here to promote social unity where ability levels and background don’t matter.

It is becoming clearer how the pandemic has deprived our communities of opportunities to come together to have fun, improve their health and wellbeing and meet other people through dance. In person classes are still not possible for all of us, and it is for this reason that our classes will be continuing online.

During this new Taken By The Hand series we will delve into the various community structures we see in the world and we want to hear from you! What picture, sculpture, painting, song, poem or dance represents community in your eyes? Each week we will share your input and this idea/item will shape our classes. So please email info@creativedancelondon.org with your idea/item representing community, with a few sentences and a link to your idea/item will be perfect.

We don’t know about you, but we sometimes find ourselves in a bit of a tangle navigating Eventbrite. Remember you can always email us at info@creativedancelondon.org to book your place on our workshops.

What?

Two weekly creative dance online classes.

Dance, smile and share with us as you explore creativity, artistic expression and movement in our guided dance workshops taking place on Zoom.

When?

We will run classes on Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm.

These classes will run for 16 weeks, commencing 4th November and finishing 11th February.

These classes are in addition to our current sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10am.

Where?

Zoom! We will send you a zoom link the evening before your classes.

New to zooming? Don’t worry! We have support in place to make sure anyone who wants to join the class can. If you need technical support or an internet connection, we will try our best to help you get online and dancing.

One Last Thing

If you can’t make a class or you aren’t ready to dance on zoom yet, you don’t have to miss out on your weekly dance. Across all 16 weeks, we will post a 1 minute teacher-led task video from Emily or Molly online every Sunday.

CDL provide a safe, friendly and inclusive environment for people to dance and meet others from a range of cultures and backgrounds to build relationships through this shared, enjoyable experience of dance. The dance style allows participants to connect with their personal style of movement. It’s a chance for older dancers and non-dancers to experiment and explore their physical and creative abilities. There is no right or wrong when moving with us.
